On the Allusion of Passed the Imperial Examinations

  • The Imperial Examinations got prosperousness in Tang and Song Dynasties. It was a way for common people to enter political stratum. Scholars hope to be known by all the people by the means of the imperial examinations, they created some gentle vocabularies which represent passed the imperial examinations. Some vocabularies originated from Shang Shu, some originated from Zhuang Zi and ancient poems. These appeared different age allusions can be roughly divided into four periods: the Pre-Qin and Han Dynasties, the Han Wei and Six Dynasties, Tang Dynasty, song Dynasty. To understand the origin of these words will help us to understand of the ancient literature and exploring the meaning of imperial examination culture.
