New Interpretation of the Sentence "Qi Ji Bin Shang, Jiubian Jiuge" in Tianwen

  • As interpretations of the sentence "Qi ji bin shang, Jiubian Jiuge" in Tianwen vary, no unanimous conclusion has been reached so far. Having analyzed the interpretations comprehensively so as to examine and select appropriately, the thesis, and referred to the research results in historiography and philology of inscriptions on bones or tortoise shells in Shang Dynasty, comes to a conclusion that the meaning of the sentence is: Qi, the king in Xia Dynasty, put on the song-and-dance performance, Jiubian and Jiuge, to show his feats to please the God, because he desperately wanted to be an immortal.
