On Zong Gao's Acceptance from Su Shi

  • Zong Gao is the most outstanding Zen monk in the Song Dynasty, his achievement is inseparable from the acceptance of Su Shi. Influenced by Su Shi, Zong Gao explains that Hui Hong, Tang Gen, Li Peng, Zhang Shang-ying, Han Ju, Zong Gao indirectly accepted views from Su Shi. Yet by complimenting the character and works of Su Shi, Zong Gao backed the latter up onto the like the Literary Palace, realizing direct acceptance of Su Shi.
