Textual Research on "Using Saoti to Create Yuefu Poetry" by Sima Xiangru

On Yuefu poetry composition in Han Dynasty, Liu Xie pointed out in Wenxindiaolong that Zhu Maichen and Sima Xiangru had used Saoti to create yuefu poetry. Literati of Han Dynasty had favored the style of Saoti in creation of poetry. Sima Xiangru was one of the poets who employed Saoti skillfully in his literature creation, that's why Saoti poem occupied a special position in his poetry works. The nineteen lyrics in Jiaosige are the important chapters of yuefu poetry in Han Dynasty. Based on textual research, this article puts forward the speculation that Sima Xiangru is the probable creator of Chaolongshou and Tianma I, two of the nineteen lyrics.
