Abstract
Contemporary Chinese Literature edited by Li Yi and Gan Tianquan is one of the outcomes of the project—'Selected Reading of Classical Cultural Works and Undergraduate Training', which is a key project in the Ministry of Education Reform. The book presents an answer to 'what kind of history on earth is the literary history?' and new thoughts and implications on teaching literature history from the dimensions of classical works and life experience, pointing a direction for the teaching reform of college literature. In an unprecedented length, the book emphasizes the significance and status of classical literature works and life experience, aiming to improve students' literary sensibility and appreciation ability, and strengthen their resonance between the personal life experience and contemporary literature. It is beyond a 'rescript' of literature history in academic discipline, but a 'paradigm' of contemporary Chinese literature education to stimulate reading experience by rebuilding the historical sites. This book, therefore, lays a solid theoretical foundation for the study of contemporary Chinese literature.
