The Relationship Between Liang Qichao's Educational Literature and Modern Korean Scholar——On the Impact of Liang's 'Novel Revolution' on Sin Chaeho

  • The late Qing Dynasty and early Republican Period was the 'Enlightenment' period of China.Though Liang Qichao was then exiled to Japan, he wrote and published a series of articles about his views on fiction.Similarly, the late 19th century to the early 20th century was the time of 'Civilization' in Korea.Sin Chaeho, a Korean scholar took up his pen to write for the future of his country. Both of them used fiction as a tool for revolution and even as an instrument to transform the society and political structure. This paper takes Sin Chaeho, a modern Korean novelist, as an example to analyze the influence of Liang Qichao's views about fiction on Sin so as to explore the exchange of views on fiction between Chinese and Korean literati.
