On Zheng Gu's Poem about Shu

  • Zheng Gu, a famous poet in Tang Dynasty, entered into Shu to escape the riot of Huangcao in B.C.881.Though Zheng Gu has produced many works, those handed down are only 300, among which the Shu poems are about 40.His poems about Shu are abundant, excessive and excellent. But the later scholars offer a mixed reception with criticism and praise. The paper points out that reasonable assessment and objective analysis of Zheng's poems should be based on the history and literary background of his times, and tries to avoid any bias of evaluation.
