Brief Review about the Effect of Confucianism on the Philosophy and Culture of Southern Minorities in China

  • Since Confucianism prevailed in China, it has exerted obvious influence on the philosophy and culture of the southern minorities. For instance, the concept of Yin and Yang in Yunnan Naxi absorbed from the concept in Zhouyi. Bai monks were named as 'Confucianism Explanation' or 'Explaining Confucianism', in the period of Nanzhao and Dali. Yangming study has profound influence on the philosophies and cultures of minorities in Guizhou. Minorities lived in Lingnan, such as Zhuang, Li, Yao and etc., are under great influence of Confucianism.
