Study on the Psychosocial Rehabilitation Characteristics of Youth in Sichuan Earthquake Disaster Area

  • This study based on the literature review of psychological rehabilitation characteristics, prepared characteristics scale of youth psychological rehabilitation, investigated 650 students from Pengzhou middle schools and high schools who were differently affected by the earthquake, and discussed the differences of their psychological rehabilitation characteristics. SPSS16.0 is used to data analysis for correlation analysis and two-way ANOVA. The results of this study are as follows: Differentiations in average scores of different grades on aspects of optimism and hope, seeking help from problem solving, sense of insecurity and security indicate that 1) second-year junior high school students perform better than any other grade in dimensions of optimism and hope and sense of security; 2) second-year junior high school students have better psychological rehabilitation status than other grades; 3) second-year of senior high school students are better at seeking help from problem solving than others for their psychological rehabilitation. Average scores of male and female students show that 1) overall, there is no significant difference in psychological rehabilitation characteristics between them; 2) faced with unexpected events, girls have higher sense of insecurity than boys; 3) girls seek help from problem solving more often than boys, and they do better in finding ways to solve problems than boys.
