From Chronicle of Three Kingdoms to Romance of Three Kingdoms

  • This paper comprehensively reviews the writing process of Romance of Three Kingdoms in new historical perspective and throws light on some inaccurate or incorrect views. Luo Guanzhong was a great writer in the late Yuan Dynasty. Based on the integration of biographical literature and popular literature, he collected information from Chronicle of Three Kingdoms and Book of the Later Han, absorbed and adapted popular literature into the chronicle framework appeared in History as a Mirror, and created heroes and plots with his great artistic talents. When Romance of Three Kingdoms was finally completed, it was listed into masterpieces in its contemporary counterparts.
