Comparative Study of Schindler's Ark and Schindler's List

  • Based on literary analysis and general theories about film adaptation, this article tries to make a comparison between the novel Schindler's Ark and its film adaptation Schindler's List with an eye on their differences and similarities. A look into the personal and social background and particular concerns of the novelist Thomas Keneally against those of the film producer Spielberg reveals how the latter successfully achieves a desired equivalence in his work to the original novel in spirit, enabling the audience to savour an aesthetic experience comparable to that tasted by the readership.
