From a Nobleman to a Cog: the Transformation of Classical Taste to Modern Literary View——On Qu Qiubai's Literary Thought Development

  • Qu Qiubai's aesthetic tastes and critical criterion of art are closely linked to the change of his thoughts. As a litterateur who had pure taste of classical literature and art, Qu Qiubai's literary thought was always mixed with classical taste of Chinese literature. But finally he decided to adopt modern literary theories and adjusted through great hardships. So he became an early modern Chinese writer, literary theorist and Marxist-Leninist critic. From a nobleman to a cog, Qu Qiubai tried to complete the transformation of classical taste to modern literary view. The studies on his literary thought development undoubtedly have great value in exploring the turn of China modern literature.
