“鞠躬”“磕头”“作揖”起源考

Exploration of the Origin of Bowing, Kowtowing and Scraping

  • 摘要: 鞠躬、磕头、作揖, 是中华民族的传统礼节。在数千年的漫长岁月中, 它早已跨出国门, 融进世界不少国家和民族的日常生活之中, 成为他们民族文化的一个重要内容, 也成为世界文明的重要组成部分。但是, 这几个礼节的起源和它们的原始意义及其演变轨迹, 很少有人论及, 也没有一个明确的答案。本文通过对甲骨文“鞠”字的考证, 并结合考古学、民俗学、文献学等的研究成果, 对甲骨文中“鞠祭”的发展演变进行研究, 从而考证出鞠躬、磕头、作揖是人类文明在漫长的进程中对鞠祭的继承、变革与发展。

     

    Abstract: Bowing, kowtowing and scraping, the traditional Chinese etiquette, have gone beyond national boundary and incorporated into the world civilization. Few people, however, has traced their origin and evolution. Based on the textual criticism of the oracle bone inscription "鞠" and the research results of archaeology, folklore and philology, the essay comes to a conclusion that bowing, kowtowing and scraping are the inheritance, change and development of "Ju Ji"(an ancient Chinese religious rite offering bow-shaped sacrifices to worship heaven).
