Abstract: Knowledge City is a product of the knowledge economy and the objective needs of urban transformation. Knowledge City, as a brand-new strategy of sustainable urban development, has a set of rigid assessment criteria. The construction of Knowledge City involves different aspects of urban life; therefore, the development process of Knowledge Cities needs strong social supports. With accelerating construction of Knowledge Cities in the world, it is urgent to explore further this new theory and to adopt this strategy into urban development planning.
