Abstract:
Objective this study is to examine the reliability and validity of Multi-trait Self-esteem Scale.
Methods correlation analysis, exploratory factor analysis, and confirmatory factor analysis are adopted to analyze the data from 363 high school students.
Results 1) the scale has a good reliability, with the internal consistency reliability coefficient of 0.764~0.860 and split-half reliability coefficient of 0.783~0.888; 2) the exploratory factor analysis indicates that the scale has four dimensions, and the confirmatory factor analysis proves that index of each dimension meets the requirement and the four-dimension model is better than six-dimension model.
Conclusion the scale is reliable and valid in measuring the Chinese middle school students' self-esteem.
