Abstract: In history, Well in Zhou Yi was generally annotated from the perspective of politics and ethics in history.The four symbolic meanings of Well are: 1) well keeps collecting rainwater and underground water so that it can stay alive forever; 2) the pattern of well is prescribed and unchangeable; 3) well is as neutral and upright as a noble person; 4) well supplies fresh water as officials recommend talents, monarch appoints talents.However, Su Shi annotated Well from a unique and distinctive angle.He focused on how talents retained cultivation and independent personality after being demoted.Additionally, his poems with well image embodied some meanings of Well in Zhou Yi.
