Abstract:
On July 5, 2025, Xihua University and the Chinese Society for Ethnic History jointly hosted an academic symposium commemorating the 80th Anniversary of the Victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. The symposium focused on the study of the history of the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the building of a community for the Chinese nation during the War against Japanese Aggression, engaging in in-depth discussions on topics such as the building of a community for the Chinese nation during the War against Japanese Aggression and the Chinese national identity, journalism and publishing during the War against Japanese Aggression, Southwest China's strategic and material support to the war effort, the spirit of resisting aggression and the preservation of wartime heritage, as well as new perspectives, methods, and sources in War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression studies. The symposium's findings indicate that both resistance against Japanese aggression practice and its cultural dissemination jointly fostered the formation of a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation. These insights shed light on the contemporary inheritance of the Chinese national identity and the spirit of resisting aggression, while also broadening the perspectives and methodologies of research on the history of the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression.
