Abstract:
The spirit of historical initiative reflects the values of autonomy, independence, self-confidence, and self-improvement that the Communist Party of China has demonstrated throughout its century-long struggle. It reflects the Party's conscious effort to transform the world based on a deep understanding of historical laws, and constitutes a vital aspect of its spiritual character. Rooted in Marxist dialectical and historical materialism, and an accurate understanding of Party history, this spirit has empowered the CPC to strengthen its historical initiative. In the new era—marked by both domestic and international challenges and an evolving Party mission—strengthening historical initiative has become increasingly essential. By continuously advancing this spirit, the CPC aims to improve intra-party governance, enhance national governance capacity, and contribute to global governance reform. Ultimately, strengthening historical initiative will help the CPC to confront developmental challenges, such as the Tacitus Trap, the middle-income trap, and the Thucydides Trap.
