The Research on the Control Strategy for Reducing the Loads on the Wind Turbines with Variable Speed and Pitch

This paper presents a new control strategy for the MW wind turbines with variable speed and pitch on the basis of the traditional PID control method.Also, based on the external links of special software BLADED, the controller is developed independently by the authors.By using the method of reducing the loads, the effects on the aerodynamic performance and loads of wind turbines can be obtained.The results indicate the control strategy can effectively reduce the loads on wind turbines, so that the wind turbines will have a smooth operation.This simulation means can be applied to optimize the design and control of stalled wind turbines.
