Influence of Heat Treatment on Microstructures and Hardness of Al-Cu-Ti-B Alloy

  • Different contents of titanium and boron are added in aluminium-copper alloy. At the same condition of metallurgy and hot treatment, different microstructures are obtained, which are studied by means of XRD, SEM, optical microstructures and Brinell hardness. The microstructure is α solution phrase and θ phrase (Al2Cu) and AlCu2Ti, Al3Ti, TiB2.With the solutionising temperature of 540℃, on the time of 15h, different contents of titanium and boron are added in the aluminium-copper alloy, Brinell hardness reaches the peak of 129HBS, and on the time of 24h, Brinell hardness reaches another peak of 128HBS.Aging at the temperature of 200℃, on the time of 1.5~2h, different contents of titanium and boron are added to the aluminium-copper alloy, the Brinell hardness reaches the top of 140HBS, far quicker than the aluminium-copper alloy reaches the top Brinell hardness.
