Abstract
Based on the two Dofs vehicle model, a control strategy for improving vehicle lateral stability is developed with the application of active steering technique in this paper. It is convenient to change the wheel steering angle by using active steering technique. Furthermore, the vehicle lateral stability performance can be improved along with the change of side forces via the changing of wheel steering angle. A simulation is conducted for the analysis of the vehicle dynamics characteristics, especially, the lateral stability with the use of an 8 Dofs vehicle model. From the comparison between the modeling results and that of the vehicle without the control system, the vehicle lateral stability is ameliorated by using the control strategy.
