Settlement Observation Techniques for Shanghai-Nanjing Intercity Roadbed

In this paper, according to the Shanghai-Nanjing-off special roadbed design documentation requirements, combined with the construction practice, the author summarizes the laid programs of soft-soil roadbed settlement observation and the technical requirements of measurement in Jiangnan area.The paper also illustrates the required observation content and the reasonable layout of observation section to determine the observation frequency.Furthermore, the methods of estimation of settlement are presented based on measurement findings to determine the final settlement value and to establish the relationship between settlement and time by using curve regression method.These observation and evaluation methods are also effective for a similar settlement observation in roadbed Engineering.
