Effects of Bi2O3 Addition on the Thermoelectric Properties of Ca3Co3.9Cu0.1O9/Bi2Ca2Co2Oy Composites

Abstract
The Ca3Co3.9Cu0.1O9 powder synthesized by solvent method was sintered with various Bi2O3 for Ca3Co3.9Cu0.1O9/Bi2Ca2Co2Oy composites in this article, and the effects of Bi2O3 addition on the thermoelectric properties of the composite were studied. The study shows that the addition of Bi2O3 can get denser samples, and with the Bi2O3 increasing, the electrical resistivity decreases sharply while Seebeck coefficient changs little and this results in a maximum power factor of 3.27×10-4 Wm-1K-2 in Ca3Co3.9Cu0.1O9 (Bi2O3)0.2 sample at 973 K.
