Abstract: Scholars feel strange that Xuanyu Waibian, edited by ZHANG Da-ling from Sichuan in the late Ming Dynasty, consisting of Shi Lun, Shuoshi Juanyan and other four works and Qianbainian Yan, edited by ZHANG Sui from Hunan in the same period, share much identical content. More surprisingly, the former has been ignored while the latter highly praised in the academic circle. The essay focuses on the historical relations between the two books to provide the insight into their academic value.
