Purpose/SignificanceThe analysis of the demand structure and phased evolution characteristics of agricultural products and the imbalance between supply and demand on the supply side has important practical significance for adjusting the agricultural supply structure system, improving the quality and efficiency of this system, and satisfying the upgrading of the demand structure of agricultural products for urban and rural residents. And it is also another perspective to support the innovation of the structural reform path on the agricultural supply side.

Method/ProcessThis paper collates the periodic changes of GDP, urban and rural residents' income growth rate and residents' Engel's coefficient, and makes a comparative study of the upgrading characteristics of rural and urban residents' consumption demand structure of agricultural product and the lagging effect of China's agricultural product supply side from the perspective of demand change.

Result/ConclusionThe paper suggests that the important path to improve the efficiency of the agricultural product supply system is to promote the moderate scale management of agriculture and the overall development of small-scale agriculture, to innovate the agricultural support model and product innovation of inclusive finance, and to establish a quantitative evaluation index system for the effective supply of consumer demand-oriented agricultural products.
