Abstract: From the global experience of urban-rural integration, developed countries are stepping into an advanced stage of urban-rural integration, while some developing countries just begin their urban-rural integrated development.These countries have made preliminary progress and gained some experiences, which are instructive for the urban-rural integrated development in Shantou.Since reform and opening up, Shantou has made progress in problem-solution of agriculture, rural?areas and farmers, and exploration of measures and approaches to promote urban-rural integrated development.But the reform in institution and policy produces little satisfactory results.Therefore, Shantou has to learn from the international and local experiences in promoting its urban-rural integration.
